Dear ,

You are not alone. All of us at OneTable are thinking about you and want to do all that we can to support you. I wish I could have all 225,000 OneTable participants as guests around my Shabbat dinner table this week.

“My heart is heavy with the events of the past few days. I find myself yearning to be with people who simply understand, and will be with me in my grief, fear, shock, and anger - no explanations needed. I want to open my apartment to create that space for anyone else who feels they need it too.” Philadelphia host

The surprise, horrific attack on Israelis this past Shabbat and Simchat Torah is hard to process, and the reverberations will be felt for a long time to come. We feel compelled to respond differently than we have in the past.

We have already heard from many OneTable community members that you are drained, angry, confused, and most of all seeking safety and connection. For all these reasons, OneTable is extending the regular, Tuesday deadline for posting dinners to Thursday night at 11:59 pm for the next two weeks. Let Shabbat nourish you and your community.

May we continue to lean on each other, may the violence ebb not rage, and may peace reign.

L'Shalom,

Aliza Kline
CEO, OneTable

P.S. In addition to our Shabbat resources, we have started a list of ways you can stay updated, get involved, and make a difference through our partners, see below. And we will be inviting you to OneTable Conversations designed to offer support and information about what’s going on.

  • Timely news, clearly explained: Hey Alma, in partnership with Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) is continually updating news on what’s happening right now in Israel and Gaza.

  • High-level policy briefing: Israel Policy Forum, an American Jewish organization that works for a negotiated two-state solution, convened a panel of experts to assess the unfolding situation in Israel.

"Let’s come together to hold space for one another in the wake of the tragedies in Israel. It’s a really challenging time whether you know someone in Israel personally or not. Let’s talk about how we’re feeling and what we can do to support humanitarian efforts. Potluck style. Also I will host a short sound healing at the end of the eve." Los Angeles host
