Hey Friend,
The timing of Shabbat each week is tied to the setting of the sun and rising of the stars. That means that in the summer and fall, Shabbat starts later because the sun sets later, which means Friday hands you a long, golden afternoon before anyone sits down to eat Shabbat dinner.
This week: spend that time on something new. There are very few moments throughout the week when we actually get to let ourselves try something entirely new to us. This is the moment to take the hike you keep driving past. Maybe borrow a pair of binoculars and find out if birdwatching is your thing. This is about waking up, and new things wake us up to our lives.
Whatever new potential hobby you try, land at Shabbat dinner afterward with a little sun on you and one new thing to talk about, which, conveniently, makes for an even more interesting dinner conversation. Which, conveniently, is exactly what dinner conversation runs on.
Try something new.
The OneTable Team
P.S. Post your Permission to Unplug dinner by tomorrow night to get up to a $100 gift card. Your Friday self will thank you.
